About the Gallery Atelier Rosa Colibrí

The picturesque Kallmünz attracts already for a long time artists (e.g. Wassily Kandinsky, Gabriele Münter, Schmidt-Rottluff). Nowadays more than 50 artists are active in Kallmünz.

Born in Mexico Gabriela Rosas moved 2017 to Kallmünz and strengthens this mecca for artists with her studio Atelier Rosa Colibrí which is located in the ground level of an ancient house in the historic center of Kallmünz.

On the weekends from March to November you can admire the works of art in the gallery from 11am to 6pm in Kallmünz, Vilsgasse 13.

The Atelier Rosa Colibrí serves for the exibitions but first it is the workshop of the artist.

The rooms are well equiped (good light, tables for working, easels...) and are an environment which makes you enjoy creative work so that it is possible to offer drawing classes for up to 12 persons.

If you want to improve your own drawing and painting skills with Gabriela Rosas,  she will consider your goals, individual abilities and learning speed.

About Gabriela Rosas-González

Gabriela Rosas was born in Mexico City.
Since 2017 she lives in Kallmünz.

She is a social anthropologist, musician and painter.

From 1998 to 2001, after completing her studies at the El Greco academy, she painted commissioned acrylic and oil paintings for the Liverpool department store in the Manuel Durán studio in Mexico City.

She was enrolled for the study of visual art at the College of Fine Arts of the Free National University of Mexico (ENAP- UNAM).

There are many outstanding artists from Mexico, such like Betsabeé Romero, Remedios Varo or Leonora Carrington whose works are motivating Gabriela Rosas to work as an artist.

During her studies at UNAM she also studied the pre-Columbian cultures scientifically, leading now to her mission to bring the art of the Olmecs, Toltecs, Maya, Aztecs back to life in a modern way and to bring them into the consciousness of today's observers.
Some of her paintings are therefore inspired by Mexican art history and can be seen in the permanent exhibition in the Atelier Rosa Colibrí in Kallmünz. Some people consider Gabriela Rosas as an informal cultural ambassador of Mexico.

Having arrived in Kallmünz, where already Kandinsky was working, she also wanted to do her part to strengthen Kallmünz as an artists' colony. Thus, another focus of her artistic work is dedicated to Kallmünz, she is active in the MOSAIK artists organisation, participates in the cultural events and takes care of the young artists by teaching and motivating them and of course creates a lot of works showing beautiful Kallmünz

She masters many painting techniques (watercolor, oil, acrylic, etc.) and styles - landscapes, studies of birds or persons, figurative painting but also abstract works

In Vilsgasse 13 there is her own gallery (Atelier Rosa Colibrí), which opened its doors starting May 2018 with paintings in diffent technics using oil, watercolors, pencisls, acrylic and other materials .

In addition to painting, she also works in the field of music as a freelance artist, teaches piano and recorder and is choir master of the Ensemble Choir Kallmünz Sing & Swing.
